100 Days of Summer - The M & S Charity Drive
Over the last three months, the staff at Marks & Spencer Outlet, Royal Quays, have been raising money for the FHLTA, as part of the company's national 100 Day Charity Drive. The charity was chosen in honour of Graham Marsh, who recently passed away. Graham and his wife Christine, a team leader at the store played an important role in the work of the FHLTA and the staff of M&S are pleased their donation of £1,527.98 will be used to help continue the good work of the charity. As well as having collection tins at every till point, the staff also decided to hold a charity night in July, which was attended by more than 80 people. Staff worked hard at selling tickets to friends and family, promising them a DJ and dance floor, and a buffet on the night, which was put together by the staff themselves. A raffle was also held on the night, with over fifty prizes, given, again, by the staff and also kindly donated by local businesses. More than 500 tickets were sold, with one colleague even selling tickets at his band's gig. Hot on the heels of the charity night, the store organised a sponsored walk, trekking the five miles between St Mary's Lighthouse and The Priory one afternoon after work. They were lucky enough to have sunshine on the day and everyone made it over the finish line in around an hour, although they did miss the beginning of the 'Masterchef' final!! The store were thrilled to add this money to their total, tipping them over their target for the charity drive. M&S Royal Quays would like to thank the local businesses who were kind enough to give raffle prizes and also the staff of Percy Main Cricket Club.
