Helpful Information

After a transplant it is sometimes difficult to find an insurance company who will not only cover you, but do so at a reasonable price.   If you have found a company who are competitive and helpful please send the information to us so we can build a database that will benefit everyone.

In my experience I have found the following very helpful:-

bullet

Endsleigh Insurance Services Ltd - 0191 2304021
Highly recommended by Graham Marsh, Brian Wood, Linda Holden and our former chairman Tony Armstrong.

Ask to speak to Jonathan Pugh in the Newcastle office, he is extremely helpful and if you can answer 3 medical questions you will receive cover.

My fully comprehensive multi trip insurance cost £89.20 (Feb 2008)

Freedom Insurance Services limited have contacted us and asked to be listed on our website.   They specialise in insurance for people with existing medical conditions and tell us they are currently working closely with many PCT's and Hospital Trusts.
The Sunday Times also recommended them on 18th May 2008.

Any feedback would be most welcome.

Travelbility have been in touch and asked me to add their link to our list of insurers:
We have recently relaunched our Travelbility website offering travel insurance for the disabled or those with pre-existing medical conditions and their carers.  We think this service would be of great interest to your members and visitors to your website.

Feedback is always appreciated.    See next page......

Holiday Services Ltd  - recommended by Barrie Braidford
Tel No: 01773 747426 and quote Reference MS for a £1 discount.

Holiday Services can often arrange travel insurance for transplant patients and people with other pre-existing medical conditions at Normal Rates,  especially if your trip is to Europe, Aus or NZ. Tel 01773 - 769406 ( until 8pm )  and Quote Reference MS.

Not much help if you are looking for annual multi trip cover which includes the USA.

bullet

RAC Insurance - James Baxter from the Harefield Hamsters uses the RAC and takes out annual travel cover.   Give them a try.

bullet

THB Northern Ltd
0113 243 3533

Link to website - THB Group
Ask for Peter Dyson or Steve Foster

bullet

Quotezone - if you are looking for car insurance try this link.

Quotezone.co.uk offer an online car insurance comparison system. Simply fill in the form and they trawl many online insurers (such as Endsleigh, Budget, Its4me, Insure&go, Kwik-fit etc) and return a list of quotes to choose from.   Quotes are displayed with the cheapest at the top.   It can easily be seen which companies can offer you the best deal.

If you use this site, I (and Quotezone) would like some feedback please.   Good luck.

Fortis Insurance - recommended by Graham Marsh

NOT ANY MORE.   I WAS REFUSED COVER (FEB '07)

I was asked to go through their screening process and ultimately failed.   They asked me if I had had bypass surgery (which I had pre-transplant).   This is the same as asking a man with no legs if he has a problem with his toes.

bullet

Ace Insurance - recommended by Laura Houraghan (Freeman).
Laura has had a transplant and also suffers from cystic fibrosis.
She sent the Email that I have posted on the feedback page.
Maggie Gambrill a heart transplant recipient from Papworth has also used this company and has given me a contact telephone number: 0800 0282396.

bullet

Tesco - Our chairman Barrie Braidford had to arrange some last minute insurance for a weekend trip to Amsterdam and he got cover (at a price) immediately.

I have posted his email on the feedback page.
