Bill had a lung transplant at the Freeman hospital in March 2004 and to show his gratitude to all the staff and as a thank you to his donor family set about raising some funds. Scott took part in the Great North Run from Newcastle to South Shields in 2005 and raised the fabulous amount of £3,250. In accordance with Bill's wishes the money was divided between the transplant unit, the transplant clinic and the FHLTA. Thanks Bill and well done to Scott. I hope Bill does not mind me saying this but he has an uncanny resemblance to Jimmy Greaves, my boyhood idol who scored goals for fun.
